The NHL Playoff Pursuit – and the MVP Race – has just been poorly organized.
Brewers star Milwaukee Brewers, Christian Yelich, is absent for the season with a broken knee brace, the team said on Tuesday.
Yelich was injured by hitting a ball in the knee in the first leg of the Brewers game against the Miami Marlins. Yelich immediately fell to the ground, but eventually left the field on his own.
It has not yet been decided whether Yelich will require surgery, and no return schedule has been set. He will return to Milwaukee on Wednesday for further tests.

Losing Yelich is a blow for the Brewers, who are currently 5.5 points behind the Cardinals, leaders of the center of the NL, and 1.5 games for the Cub Cubs in second place for the wild cards of the NL .
At the time of her injury, Yelich was leading the National League both in percentage on base (.430) and percentage in slugging (.672) and seemed to improve as the season progressed. He had recently become the 10th player in MLB history to record 40 homers (currently 44) and 30 steals in one season.
Yelich won the MVP last year with a warm second half. He had to compete with Cody Bellinger, the Los Angeles Dodgers player, for the same award this year.
Since Yelich's acquisition in an exchange with the Marlins after the 2017 season, few, if any, players have been as important in their lineup as the 27-year-old Brewers.
"He's a guy who has worn us in many ways over the past two years. It could have been two and a half weeks after repeating the price of the most useful player. Brewmaster General David Stearns told reporters. "We have a lot of guys in this club who are going to hurt tonight. This is a punch. "
Without Yelich, the outlook for the Brewers season seems bleak. Stearns mentioned another previous injury, Jimmy Nelson's shoulder injury in 2017, as an example of a team injury. The Brewers finished 86-76 that year, missing the playoffs.
"We have already experienced this before as an organization," Stearns said. "Two years ago almost to the day, we lost Jimmy Nelson because of a similar injury. We competed at a very high level for the rest of the season. I expect our team to participate at such a high level in the future. "
