In a video posted on Twitter on August 29, the owner of 100 Thieves and former pro Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag explained that his team would not be participating in Call of Duty next year.
The popular owner of the team pointed out that the announcement was made with a heavy heart and that it was very difficult to do. "I think everyone in our company is angry," Haag said.
"100 thieves will not be part of the Call of Duty competition next year. We will not be part of the CDL. We will not have a team competing for our brand. And I would not say it's the end, "he continued. "But we will not be aligning a list."
After thanking the supporters of the team and saying that he still loved the game and his community, Mr. Nadeshot then criticized the costs of the franchise for not participating.
"The fact is that the CDL is incredibly expensive," said the former pro. "Not only are there a lot of upfront costs, but there are a ton of operational costs on which we will spend money and resources for years."
He went on to say that the team was not ready to make that jump to be all-in-one. The organization currently employs several people both full-time and part-time and does not focus solely on esport, but also on content creation.
"We have so many different investments," he added. "Such an expensive investment in Call of Duty could compromise everything this company has built."

Nadeshot also claimed that choosing a city and building a local operation team is just too difficult to commit and that a company can not afford to participate.
