House Judiciary Committee Chair Jerry Nadler, DN.Y., on Wednesday lodged a lawsuit against Attorney General Bill Barr for contempt of Congress for failing to hand over documents related to the investigation. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Leader of the minority at the time in the House of Representatives, explained that Republicans in the House were more motivated by political reasons to attack Holder than pushed to get to the bottom of things .
"What's going on here is shameful," Pelosi said.
After Wednesday's disregard vote, conservatives cited Nadler's vintage tweet as an example of a double standard.

Nadler's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News.
Nadler had also been accused of hypocrisy last month by critics of the GOP for his subpoena of the unpublished report Mueller, critics showing videos of the Clinton era warning him against the publication of the details of the report of the independent lawyer Kenneth Starr.
"But now, a different political landscape forces the president to adopt new standards of fairness, to ignore existing laws and to demand material that he once considered" unfair to disclose, "said the member. Committee Standing Committee, Doug Collins, R-Ga.

But Republicans contend that the fight against the Fast and Furious scandal was more substantial.
"The fight with Barr is a political coup," said Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla, this week. "The real surveillance was when House searched for documents on #FastandFurious, an Eric Holder program that allowed guns to hit drug cartels in Mexico."
Chaffetz said the Congress should stick to its power of summons, "but they need a winning case (Barr easily wins this case) and a consistent backbone based on principles. "

"America should not confuse this masquerade of Democrats with a principled stance," he wrote. "Not when principles change with the political fortunes of the Democratic Party."
The quarrel over the documents contained in the 2012 controversy seemed to be resolved only this week when a settlement was reached between the House and the GM. According to Politico, both sides said that they were maintaining their disagreements but were abandoning their appeals and the underlying lawsuit.
