Name your Nest Hub timers, including turkey

As Thanksgiving approaches, elaborate meal preps are underway, and Google is adding some whimsy to the turkey and food timers on the Nest Hub, as well as other assistant smart displays.

It has long been possible to name your timers on devices with the Google Assistant. Besides easier management, such a theme assignment now the timer screen with a visual of the food in question.

For example, “Ok Google, set the turkey timer for 3 hours,” a baked and plated bird appears in front and in the center just below your Nest Hub Max’s countdown timer. This partially obscures the circular indicator, while there is a gobble sound after it is set.

If you ask for coffee or tea, a more generic kettle will appear. Other examples include pizza, pasta, and chicken, which are different from turkey. At the end of each named food timer, a shower of food accompanied by a tinkle envelops your screen for a final final touch of pleasure before one can possibly eat the meal in question.

Overall, food timers with this change are becoming much more visible – the name is currently quite small – on the Nest Hub and other smart displays.

This joins a turkey translator on Google.com when you search for “Happy Thanksgiving”.
