NYDA, Ms. Bavelile Hlongwa,
Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Waseem Carrim,
Members of the Media,
The National Youth Development Agency has successfully organized the celebrations of the 2018 Youth Month in South Africa. Held in memory of the sacrifices and commitment of the young people of 1976, their uprising ushered in a new era in the battle for democracy and freedom. These celebrations coincided with the centennial year of the celebration of Tata Mandela and Mama Albertina Sisulu
We have now entered a month of icon of the late Tata Nelson Mandela fight. Tata Mandela has played an important role in making the necessary changes in South Africa.
Today, young people benefit from his selfless leadership and the sacrifice he made until his death. We therefore welcome our global declaration to consider 18 July 2018 as an International Day of Service in Honor of the Father of the Nation
We meet exactly 15 days before the 10th BRICS Summit organized under the theme "BRICS in Africa: Collaboration for Inclusive Growth and Shared Prosperity in the Fourth Industrial Revolution ". South Africa has assumed the BRICS rotating presidency from 1 January to 31 December 2018. The 2018 Summit will be a milestone for BRICS cooperation as it represents a decade of BRICS cooperation at the highest diplomatic level [19659009]. Russia chaired and hosted the 6th BRICS Summit in 2015, a proposal for the 1st BRICS Youth Summit has been implemented. It was held in Kazan, Russia, from 1-6 July 2015.
South Africa also participated in the first BRICS Youth Summit. The South African delegation (34) was led by former Deputy Minister to the Presidency, Mr. Buti Manamela
The first BRICS Youth Summit aimed to create a permanent platform for cooperation for youth and youth. to encourage dialogue between young people. BRICS country. On this basis, a memorandum of understanding on youth issues was signed in Kazan on 6 July 2015.
The Memorandum of Understanding serves as a basis for mutually beneficial intergovernmental cooperation aimed at strengthening coordination and cooperation in the field of youth development.
The 1st BRICS Youth Summit produced a final document in the form of "The Summit Action Plan". The action plan has given rise to numerous recommendations for cooperation between BRICS countries in various areas, including economic cooperation, political cooperation, humanitarian cooperation, information cooperation and information sharing. scientific and technical cooperation
. 2nd BRICS Youth Summit held in Guwahati, India, 1-3 July 2015. The 2nd Summit continued the 1st BRICS initiatives focusing on (i) skills development and entrepreneurship; (ii) social inclusion, (iii) youth volunteering; (iv) youth participation in governance. The South African delegation was led by former NYDA CEO Khathu Ramukumba
Last year, at the 3rd BRICS Youth Forum in Beijing, China, from July 24 to 28, Delegates focused on the following plan of action:
At the end of the 3rd BRICS Youth Summit, delegates agreed on concrete steps to establish a BRICS youth research center, a platform for exchange of information, a network In replacement of the above-mentioned summit, the 4th BRICS Youth Summit organized by the National Agency for Youth Development, in cooperation with the Department of National Planning, Surveillance and monitoring. and the evaluation will take place from 15 to 18 July 2018 under the theme "Radical Economic Transformation – Making BRICS Bank for Young People". The summit will be held at the Zebula Lodge Golf Estate in Bela Bela, Limpopo Province.
The objectives of the summit are as follows:
To encourage young leaders among BRICS countries to participate actively in the world's most important challenges,
To establish a constructive exchange of views on strategic issues aimed at empowering youth.
Building Ideas for a Better and Better Future
The NYDA includes BRICS cooperation and partnership as an important platform for South Africa. This is because our country remains an important global player both politically and economically. NYDA's concern is to make sure that young people benefit enormously from the BLOC.
The 4th BRICS Youth Summit will be convened for the following result:
Creation of a youth element at the new Development Bank including the establishment of a youth fund and mentoring for youth-owned businesses especially in the field of innovation
Lobbying for the BRICS Business Council to establish a workflow for youth facilitating trade cross-border, business support and training for youth-owned businesses.
Determine the evaluation of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on our relevant economies and the nature of our response. This will include shared learning from each member country, skills development and exchange opportunities to understand jobs for the future.
Opportunities among the BRICS countries
The BRICS countries cover 40% of the world's population, more than 25% of the world's lands and represent nearly 30 percent of the global GDP to the tune of 18.5 trillion dollars (R16.6 trillion).
In 2012, the BRICS countries established the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) by eminent professionals and entrepreneurs. The ICC is a non-profit and non-governmental organization. Young people must fully participate in the ICC to promote trade and industry among the BRICS nations
The BRICS Youth Summit offers us the opportunity to accelerate the development of young people in line with Vision 2030 of the National Development Plan (NDP) which states that "ICTs will support the development of a dynamic and connected information society and a dynamic knowledge economy, more inclusive and prosperous ".
Our Government will establish a Fourth Industrial Revolution Commission to formulate immediate, medium-term and long-term priorities and recommendations for society as a whole, especially for young people. In addition, as the government continues to roll out the migration from analog to digital broadcasting, the NYDA is also responsible for coordinating a national youth strategy to enable them to benefit from such an opportunity.
BRICS governments and countries to ensure that young people participate fully in the traditional economy must go beyond the ICT sector. The natural riches of South Africa such as gold, diamonds and platinum must benefit young people at all levels. NYDA, as an agency promoting youth development in this country, will look for opportunities in natural resources to diversify youth development programs.
In 2010, a document produced by the government challenges that continue to prevent young people from transforming their lives and do not participate significantly in the traditional economy. These include unemployment, poverty and inequality among many others.
The recent Quarterly Labor Force Survey (LFS) continues to describe a dire situation for young people. The 4th BRICS Youth Summit will provide opportunities for young people to transform their lives. Delegates from BRICS countries will also chart the way forward to ensure that young people, including those in rural areas, benefit from the new Development Bank and other programs aimed at them, especially the funds for young people. rural areas migrate to urban areas in search of better opportunities. It is very important to ensure that the BRICS Youth Summit finds ways to encourage young people to stay in their communities and contribute to the growth and development of rural areas.
Therefore, the NYDA Every corner of the country will work closely with the BRICS New Development Bank in the deployment of youth programs.
It is for this reason that, as an agency, we decided to leave the council room to go to rural areas. For example, last month, we opened a full-service branch in Richards Bay to ensure that a contractor from Nseleni and Ngwelezane has access to the NYDA branch located in the area. On the other side of the street. This month we will open two new branches in Groblersdal, Limpopo and Newcastle, KZN.
The NYDA calls all South Africans to rally behind the BRICS nations as it plays an active role in creating an opportunity for us to work to find solutions to our common challenges such as poverty, inequality and the rate of Unemployment
It should also be noted that all BRICS countries enjoy comparative and competitive advantages in specific areas.
The Summit offers us an opportunity a mutually beneficial paradigm for the five nations. The Summit will have a positive impact on the lives of our people.
Young people need to come in numbers to exchange ideas with other delegates from other countries. The NYDA will continue to explore these mutually beneficial cooperative relationships with all of our partners to ensure that the lives of young people are transformed for the better.
As we continue to celebrate the life and times of Tata Mandela and Mom Albertina Sisulu, we call all men to join the # 100MenMarch tomorrow. The March will be a resounding commitment by men to end violence against women and children. This protest action aims to create a safer environment for our women and children. As Samora Machel says: "The emancipation of women is not an act of charity, the result of a humanitarian or compassionate attitude: the liberation of women is a fundamental necessity for the revolution, a guarantee of continuity and a precondition for his victory.
Thank you.
