NASA captured the best images of a binary asteroid consisting of two space rocks orbiting each other.
The twin asteroid calls YE5 2017 and features a relatively bright object and a dark evil twin.
The two rocks are about the same size, which is very unusual. This is only the fourth binary asteroid close to the Earth "equal mass" never detected
Although 2017 YE5 is classified as potentially dangerous, it is not not colliding of course with the Earth.
But if it struck us, we would certainly know it.
The twin asteroids each measure about 900 meters. If only one of them hit our planet, it would annihilate a city, kill millions of people and wreak havoc on the continent.
A double impact could cause twice as much damage and force our species to fight.
Fortunately, we will not have to think about it for almost two centuries.
On June 21, the asteroid approached the Earth at least over the next 170 years, reaching 3.7 million miles.
Astronomers can easily track massive space rocks large enough to cause the extinction of humanity. But smaller asteroids that could destroy a city could only be detected hours or days before they crash on our planet.
