ON THE CONSERVATION OF SUSPECT ASSETS RELATED TO CORRUPTION AND OTHER RELEVANT INFRACTIONS

Considering that it is the responsibility of the Federal Government of Nigeria to protect the resources of the Nigeria against all forms of corruption

; constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to the well-being, national security and stability of the country's political and economic systems, as well as its continued existence;

By the powers conferred on me by section 5 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, which extends to the execution and maintenance of the Constitution, all laws passed by the National Assembly (including (5) of the Constitution), to abolish all practices of corruption and abuse of power, it is the duty of any responsible government to restrict the transactions involving suspicious assets subject to investigations or investigations related to corruption.

Therefore, I, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in exercising the powers conferred on me, declare as follows:

Section 1. Section. 5. For the purposes of this Order:

(a) "Assets" means and includes all property, including funds, cash (bank balances), accounts receivable, stocks and bonds held in portfolios, insurance policies, in listed or unlisted companies, and all kinds of fixed assets. It covers all these assets, whether owned directly or indirectly by corporations, trust structures and intermediaries;

(b) The expression "corrupt or corrupt practices" means, within the meaning of any enactment:

(i) any corrupt activity involving corruption, including economic sabotage, , trafficking in human beings, drug trafficking and terrorism involving funds or assets of more than fifty million naira (N50,000,000) or its equivalent in foreign currency

; ) any misappropriation of public assets, any corruption in connection with public contracts or bribes; or

(iii) the transfer or facilitation of the transfer of proceeds of corruption.

(c) The term "administering authority" means the agencies and institutions of the Federal Government of Nigeria, including, but not limited to: (d) "Entity" means a partnership, association, trust, joint venture, corporation, group, sub-group or other body

(e) The expression "other relevant offenses" means any act that may constitute an act terrorism, terrorist financing, kidnapping, sponsorship of ethnic or religious violence, economic sabotage, economic and financial crimes, including acts contributing to the economic adversity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria such as the it is defined by the relevant laws.

(f) The term "person" means a natural or legal person.

Section. 6. This Decree-Law shall take effect on the day of 2018.
