England manager Gareth Southgate insisted that his current English team could be even more revered than Alf Ramsey's victorious team in 1966.
After defeating Sweden 2 -0 in the quarterfinals, England has qualified for its first World Cup semifinal since 1990 and are only a win away from a place in the final.
Speaking to the mirror, Southgate said that the team discussed the winning team of the 1966 World Cup and what they mean for the country
"We spoke briefly of the team that won, how they are always held and revered. " At first we worked with the guys and tried to sell them the vision of what is possible, what we are trying to achieve in the long run.
