Former NHL goaltender Ray Emery was found dead Sunday in Hamilton, Ontario, victim of an apparent drowning. Emery, 35, was identified by Hamilton police as the man who had left Hamilton Harbor.
According to early reports, Emery was visiting friends when the group decided to go swimming near the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club docks around 6:30 am Sunday. Emery plunged into the harbor and never surfaced again. His body was recovered Sunday afternoon.
"They went out for a swim and unfortunately he did not come out after diving," said Inspector Marty Schulenberg, via The Spec. "We responded with Hamilton Fire and EMS Unfortunately, our efforts on and around the water were negative."
