Coach Mike Sherman hinted Monday that Manziel would be named the starter.
"We did not trade for Johnny to make him sit on the bench, so obviously Johnny came here to get reps and become the best player he can become, and we said this process today, "said Sherman, via CBC." You've probably all figured it out for yourself, but when you have two players, you're waiting for the time of the match to make that announcement. "
" That does not make sense to do it sooner. "
Sherman, it turns out" (19659002) The Alouettes did acquire Manziel during a transaction with the Tiger-Cats last week, but Manziel has not witnessed the defeat of Montreal last Thursday night, despite the fans' scandal – the quarterback in a blast
Manziel will become the fourth starting quarterback and the fifth quarterback to play for 1-5 Montreal this season. The game will be broadcast Friday at 7pm 30 ET on ESPN2
Friday marks the first time Manziel started a football game since December 27, 2015, a loss of Cleveland Browns against the Kansas City Chiefs at week 16. The number 22 choice in 2014 has passed two seasons in Cleveland, much of which Manziel's six-foot play on the field in the NFL has not inspired either. For two seasons, he racked up 1675 passing yards, 6.5 yards per attempt, a 57.0 completion percentage, seven assists, seven interceptions and 22 sacks in total.
If the CFL is a stepping stone to an NFL comeback – as Manziel hopes – the QB must show that it has improved on and off the pitch so that it does not. any team plans to give it another chance.
