Stargazers are celebrating this month. While 2017 has seen a series of celestial events, Perseid meteors at a lunar eclipse, a blood moon and a blue super moon, this month will be the opportunity to enjoy a total lunar eclipse in Cornwall and Devon.
but, as reported by Birmingham Live, the lunar eclipse of July will also be the longest of the 21st century.

There will be a total lunar eclipse on July 27th.
It is scheduled to be the longest lunar eclipse of the 21st century because the moon is at one of its points farthest from the earth, making it look smaller – this means that one most of its surface will be obscured than what usually happens in an eclipse.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the sun. It is then in the shadow of the Earth.
During this type of eclipse, the moon will darken gradually but it will not disappear completely in the dark – it will take a rather coppery or reddish hue. This is popularly known as a blood moon.
What's a blood moon? Why does the moon become red during a lunar eclipse?
The moon does not create clean light – it shines because its surface reflects sunlight.
During a total lunar eclipse, the Earth blocks the sun's light. the sun and the surface of the moon are rather red or orange. But why?
This is due to an effect called Rayleigh scattering. The same phenomenon creates red sunrises and sunsets and makes the blue sky
It is caused by the way the sun's rays sometimes bounce as they move towards us. Short wavelengths like purple and blue are scattered when they hit the atmosphere, while longer wavelengths like red and orange go on to across the Earth.
The red and orange light is then refracted on the other side, giving it this strange color
So, where will this eclipse be visible?

How to get the best picture of the lunar eclipse
- Stay away from bright lights
- Try to choose a place marked by interesting buildings or trees so the the moon appears in comparison
- Keep the flash off
- If you use your phone, use your finger to focus on the location of the moon
- The moon moves for an image clear. which has a fast shutter speed
- The tripods, zooms and all the other elements are not really necessary but will help you to stay stable and get a better close-up
The eclipse will reach the maximum or all at 9.21pm and ends at 12:28 on Saturday, July 28th.
It is a visible eclipse lasting 3 hours and 28 minutes
Similar visibility will be observed in other parts of the United Kingdom. In London, people will see it from 20:39 and Manchester from 21:06 [19659002] The duration of the total eclipse will be 1h 43 minutes – the longest of this century.
When will the next lunar eclipse be?
The next total lunar eclipse that we can see from the UK will only be not before 19 January 2019.
