Kam Chancellor, of the Seattle Seahawks, has not officially retired while he is recovering from a neck injury, but he will not be available for the 2018 season. Safety Tedric Thompson and Bradley McDougald should be at the top of the depth chart while the Seahawks' training camp is open.

Seattle announced the abandonment of defensive end Malik McDowell with a non-football injury designation, and cornerback DeAndre Elliott with a failed physical designation.
McDowell's deal does not surprise him, as NFL Network Insider's Ian Rapoport reported in April that the Seahawks had to part with their second-round pick choice in 2017. McDowell suffered a head injury in a car accident last summer and spent his rookie season on the list of non football injuries.
The Seahawks signed tight passes against Kayaune Ross and I'm Ron Hamm to replace McDowell and Elliott.
