LONG POND, Pa. (AP) Daniel Suarez made the history of NASCAR when he became the first Mexican driver to start pole in the elite series Sunday at the Pocono Raceway.

Suarez won first place after qualifying Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch were sent off because the cars failed to post-qualification inspection. Harvick and Busch were among the 13 drivers whose cars failed the inspection and were forced to leave the back of the pack.

"They know what the tolerances are and they are out of tolerance," said Steve Phelps, COO of NASCAR. "Nobody likes it, we do not like it for sure."

The brew gave Joe Gibbs Racing the first three places in Pocono: Suarez, Denny Hamlin and Erik Jones.

Harvick has 43 career wins, but has not won yet Cup race at Pocono or Kentucky Speedway. Harvick is 0 for 8 in Kentucky and 0 for 35 at Pocono. He's getting closer to the 2-mile triangle track – Harvick has two vice-champions and two-quarters in his last four races.
