NASA captures an amazing photo of a rampant galaxy

Most galaxies travel far from our galaxy, no closer to it. Yet there are exceptions.

Because the universe is expanding, most galaxies are moving away from the galaxy of the Milky Way. Therefore, these galaxies seem to be on the red side of the spectrum, a phenomenon called redshift.

Messier 90, however, compresses the frequency of its light as it gets closer to us. This makes him fall closer to the blue side of the spectrum, a phenomenon known as blueshift.

It is important to note that the Virgo Cluster, of which Messier 90 is part, is moving away from us. But Messier 90 actually moves faster than the other galaxies in the group, giving the appearance of a race to the Milky Way. The colossal mass of the cluster accelerates some of these galaxies at very high speeds.
