NASA offers boarding cards and 300 million kilometers of flight on Mars

Send your name to Mars and earn more than 300 million NASA loyalty miles. In addition, receive an original boarding pass to commemorate your participation.

Long before boarding a plane, I was a bit of space. At one time, I really wanted to be an astronaut (I imagine that there were probably a lot of kids among us who felt like that!). Although I have not been to space, NASA offers me an opportunity (and millions of others) the chance for our names to go into space – and grant us 300 million frequent flyer miles at the same time!

NASA offers boarding cards and 300 million miles on the March flight

Link: March 2020

NASA did something similar during its March InSight mission and collected 2 million names for this trip. They are back in a new phase of public engagement aimed at getting people to have a more personal connection with the Mars Rover flight in 2020.

Interesting information: At the time when I wrote this post, the country that received the most names is not the United States, but Turkey!

Now your name will be engraved on a microchip, which is not going to be bulky, but we are talking about a spacecraft going to Mars, so there is not much room for anything else! That said, it's pretty cool and it will give you something concrete to remember: a boarding pass with your total mileage.

From here on September 30, you can sign up for this link and ask your name to fly aboard the rover for its launch in July 2020.

According to my "official" frequent flyer page, this flight will allow me to accumulate 313,586,649 miles. Not bad! Of course, in the absence of transfer partners and exchange opportunities, it will not take me very far, but at least part of me will go to space!

On another cool note, the space I've had interesting experiences with space communications! During my very active years as an amateur radio, I had spoken to astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle and had even sent back the Moon's radio signal for a contact via so-called rebound of the moon or EME (earth-moon-earth). Yes, I'm a little nerd. ?
