Keselowski, two-time winner in Atlanta, knew what was at stake. He had tweeted before the race to feel really good in his car just after an IV session.
This powerful car – and veteran, championship race prowess – has proven useful when he stood up to Martin Truex Jr. in the final laps of a tight race before going under the Checkered flag. Keselowski will now have the opportunity to compete for another championship title as this victory allows him to qualify for the NASCAR playoffs.
Kyle Larson resisted Vegas star Kevin Harvick in the first leg, winning his first green and white checkered flag of the season. The two men clashed again at Step 2, but this time it was Harvick who won a point in the playoffs. Harvick finished in fourth place in the race, while Larson – the overall leader with 142 ", was unable to overcome a late penalty and finished 12th.

Step 1: Larson and Almirola dominate
Aric Almirola started the race from pole and had no problem pacing the peloton early as the rest of the pack made its way through. Kyle Busch started the race from behind in a rescue car, but he had no difficulty in being heard while the leaders were holding on.
Almirola led 35 of the first 36 laps before NASCAR issued a competition warning scheduled to allow crews to make adjustments because of the rain on the track the night before. No. 10, however, was slow off the pit lane, allowing Larson to regain the upper hand. Larson had no problem doing what Almirola had done in the first round, directing clean air.
Despite starting in the middle of the pack, Kevin Harvick mounted his charge to the lead in the final 15 laps of the stage. However, Larson was able to ride safely and win the stage.

Step 2: Larson and Harvick face each other
Harvick won the race off the pits between the specials, while Almirola was penalized for speeding and had to restart from the back. Joey Logano and Alex Bowman got into their pits and lost a big position on the track.
No. 4 held the serve despite a four-point challenge on the recovery. Martin Truex Jr. and Larson then started fighting for second place, with Larson eventually winning the position. Harvick led 22 laps before breaking free and giving way to Larson, who was gaining seconds on each lap.
Larson takes the advantage 41 minutes later, Harvick and the pack the next shortly thereafter. No. 42 quickly regained the advantage and gained about 1.5 seconds to Harvick, who returned to second place. Kyle Busch missed the entrance to the pit lane and lost his position during the green flag stops. Brad Keselowski also lost time due to the break-up of his team during his stoppage.
With 17 to go, the battle for the head started between Harvick and Larson. No. 42 climbed its famous high line while No. 4 stuck to the bottom. In this race, it is Harvick who came first when Larson tires started to show a little wear.

Final stage: Keselowski in the lead
Harvick won the race off the pits between stages and led the peloton to the green to start the finals. However, it's Larson who controlled the restart – another exciting four-wide – and took the lead ahead of Kyle Busch and Truex with Harvick in fourth.
As Larson paced the peloton easily, Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin chained the stands with the green flag on the 220th lap. warning shortly after the halt of Hamlin. This allowed Hamlin to take the wave and return to the main round.
Larson beat Harvick off the pits under the yellow, but Team # 42 was penalized for speeding. Larson had to start from the back of the field while Harvick and Ryan Blaney led the field to green.
The race really resumed once Larson was kicked at the back of the field. Blaney took the opportunity to lead Harvick and Truex was second. No. 12 continued to perform well ahead, while Kyle Busch and Larson tried to make their way through the pack.
During this phase, two rookies, Daniel Hemric and Ryan Preece, as well as Chris Buescher, were in the top 10. All three had a score of 100 to 1 or less when entering the race. Buescher was an inexpensive option on DraftKings and had a 300-to-1 rating to win.
Blaney and the leaders made a pit stop with 55 to go. On the pit road, Preece put an end to his strong run when he ran into the back of BJ McLeod after leaving his stand. Preece told the radio that he was distracted by his tachometer and that it cost him a place in the top 10 potential.
Truex also had problems on the pit road because he was (or was) not penalized for too many members over the wall. NASCAR, however, did not move it to the back of the field and he took fourth place behind Joey Logano, Kurt Busch and Brad Keselowski.
NASCAR explained the move after the race:
Logano took control of the lead in front of teammate Keselowski as the race entered his last 40 laps. After information on a loose Logano wheel, # 2 took the lead. Shortly after giving up the command, Logano took his route No. 22 to take care of this loose wheel and eliminated from the race for victory.
Hemric, who was running in the top 10, followed Logano a few laps later with information showing a tire fall. The rookie was racing for his first career win in his second start of the Cup Series in # 8.
In the end, Keselowski was overtaken by Truex, but he was able to hold the No. 19 checkered flag and won the race with a small margin.
