Seven-time NASCAR champion, Jimmie Johnson finished the Boston Marathon Monday in 3:09:07 a day and a half after being ranked 12th in the Richmond Cup Series race.

Johnson was numbered 4848 to mark his car number – 48 – and finished his 40-44 age group at 641st.

The 43-year-old then tweeted that it was "the hardest thing I've ever done."

Johnson hoped to take a break of 3 hours, but said that he was satisfied with the result.

"I wanted to run, so I went out with a heart rate and time in my head. I was a little short, but I'm still doing so, I'm really happy, "said NASCAR.com.

Johnson had already completed a 70.3-mile triathlon and his goal was to participate one day in the 140.6-mile Ironman Triathlon. He often responds to supposed Twitter fans who tell him that he should focus on driving, given his declining performance on the track in recent years.

He made fun of them on Monday, when American distance runner Meb Keflezighi gave him a finishing medal around his neck.

"It was so cool," he tweeted.
