Nate Diaz loves to stir the pot.

While Diaz lost a unanimous decision in the untitled, headlining first five-round fight to Leon Edwards at UFC 263, that hasn’t stopped him from calling the biggest names in the world.

Although the pair never met inside the cage, Dustin Poirier and Diaz (20-13 MMA, 15-11 UFC) were once scheduled to meet at UFC 230. Unfortunately, the fight failed due to of an injury to Poirier’s hip.

On Thursday night, Diaz issued a public challenge to Poirier (28-6 MMA, 20-5 UFC) via Twitter, with the goal of ultimately throwing in with Poirier:

185 pounds

Ride up

Interestingly, Diaz seems to want this potential fight to be middleweight, unlike their previously planned fight which was supposed to be lightweight.

Poirier comes off a TKO victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 264, a fight that put Poirier at the top of their trilogy by winning two of three fights.

Immediately after the victory, Poirier expressed interest in challenging lightweight champion Charles Oliviera for the title, as well as a fourth fight with McGregor when he is healthy to return.

However, with this new challenge from Diaz, Poirier could potentially have a new option on the table, and judging by his response to Diaz’s tweet, he’s not opposed to the idea:

I would touch you at any weight

Before signing to fight McGregor at UFC 264, Poirier opted for the fight for the money that closed the door to a heated rivalry instead of a title shot that could have been his own if he wanted to. .

With Diaz still bringing heightened attention, would Poirier pass up another title opportunity?

Neither fighters have competed in the middleweight in their professional careers.
