Nate Diaz shoots Conor McGregor, promises to show him how it’s done against Dustin Poirier

Nate Diaz rarely misses a chance to dunk his longtime rival Conor McGregor, and this war of words continued with a pair of social media posts on Monday.

The former ‘BMF’ title contender and former lightweight title challenger took to Twitter to shoot the Irish superstar, who continues to rest and recover after breaking his leg in his second loss back-to-back against Dustin Poirier in their trilogy at UFC 264.

McGregor fell by TKO against Poirier in January, but he got an immediate rematch in July, which is where he fell again after his leg broke at the end of the first round.

In response, Diaz posted a short behind-the-scenes video where McGregor tackles his 2016 rematch where the former two-division UFC champion claimed a majority decision victory after five grueling rounds. McGregor can be heard in the video calling Diaz a “tough bastard” with one of his trainers, then commenting that he is “the fucking Terminator.”

“You should have learned from that already,” Diaz said on Twitter alongside McGregor’s video.

Diaz then followed that up with a second video – this time showing Poirier in hospital after undergoing hip surgery following a previously planned fight against Diaz that never happened.

The lightweight were scheduled to meet in 2018 at UFC 230, but Poirier was forced out of the game due to injury, and the fight was never rescheduled.

Diaz is more than happy to remind Poirier of this fact while messaging McGregor about how he plans to send “The Diamond” in a very different way if they ever meet.

“Don’t stumble though, I’ll show you how to do it,” Diaz said.

As much as Diaz might want Poirier’s fight, it remains to be seen if he’s actually in contention for this particular game.

After his second straight win over McGregor, Poirier was immediately mentioned as the next contender in the running to face UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira.

Poirier actually had the chance to compete for the vacant lightweight title after Khabib Nurmagomedov retired, but he opted for the trilogy with McGregor rather than facing Oliveira for the belt.

Right now, Poirier is still ranked No.1 in lightweight according to the MMA Fighting Global MMA Rankings, regardless of the UFC title. But it’s unclear whether he would rather continue the fight against Diaz than face Oliveira.

Clearly, Diaz has made his preference known as he seeks to sort out an unfinished business with Poirier in the Octagon.
