National Enquirer paid $ 200,000 for Bezos texts: report

The National Enquirer reportedly paid $ 200,000 for revealing text messages between Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his secret girlfriend at the time.

The Wall Street Journal, quoting people close to the case, reported Monday that Michael Sanchez, the brother of Bezos' girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez, had sold the text messages to Enquirer for $ 200,000.

Sanchez told the Journal that he did not "deserve" history and called it "old rumors," according to the Journal.

In February, CNN and The Daily Beast reported that Sanchez was the one who leaked the SMS to Enquirer. According to the Journal, Sanchez has long been a source for Enquirer and is a supporter of President TrumpDonald John Trump, Chief Chiefs' President, denies the report that the United States plans to keep 1K troops in Syria. The Kansas Department of Transportation calls Trump "Communist Delusional" on Twitter. Trump expressed skepticism about driverless cars: report, who often whipped to Bezos.

Enquirer published an article in January including text messages between Bezos and his girlfriend. Bezos was married when the texts were sent.

In February, Bezos accused Enquirer and its parent company, American Media Inc. (AMI), of attempting to blackmail him about revealing text messages prior to the publication of the story. AMI denied the allegations.

Bezos wrote in a Medium article that Enquirer had proposed not to publish the posts if Bezos publicly stated that the tabloid's previous reports on him were not politically motivated. He said that he refused to do it.
