Naya Rivera’s friends and family pay tribute to the actress who passed away this holiday season in a special way.
Rivera Joy co-stars opened a GoFundMe account in her name to raise funds for Alexandria House, a nonprofit she was involved with before her death. The actress accidentally drowned while on a swimming excursion with her 5-year-old son, Josey, on July 8.
“If you were lucky enough to know Naya, you would know she put on epic parties. Best of all was her annual Christmas party, which she dubbed Snixxmas. Snixxmas was like Naya herself… bubbly, fabulous and a hell of a good time! But it wasn’t just glitzy, glamorous, gay clothes. Every holiday season, Naya has found ways to give back, ”the GoFundMe page reads.
Rivera has donated money and time to Alexandria House, which provides safe and supportive housing for women and children who are moving from emergency shelter to economic stability and housing. permanent. The actress has spoken about the connection she feels with the organization before her death.
“The connection I feel with [Alexandria House] and the people who live and work there have been the greatest blessing and have had a huge positive impact on me and my son. We have truly found a home away from home in the time we spend there, ”she explained.
According to the GoFundMe page, one of the residences at Alexandria House caught fire this year.
“This has been a difficult year for many, including the women and children of Alexandria House. They not only encountered the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic, but also suffered a major loss when one of their two residences caught fire, displacing families and damaging property, ”the page said.
“Now more than ever, it is important that we keep the Snixxmas spirit alive. We won’t be able to throw a big and fabulous party this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t give back, ”he continues. “We will donate on Naya’s behalf to Alexandria House.
