Actress Naya Rivera will posthumously play the role of Catwoman / Selina Kyle in an upcoming Batman animated feature.
The late star, who tragically drowned last summer, completed her voice work in the film before her death and was revealed as a cast member by The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday.
Playing the caped crusader in the superhero film will star Supernatural Jensen Ackles alongside an exceptional cast including Josh Duhamel and Amy Landecker.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One is slated for release in the spring or summer of 2021.
The two-part project will star Ackles as Batman / Bruce Wayne, opposite foils Josh Duhamel as Harvey Dent and Rivera as Catwoman / Selina Kyle.

The rest of the cast of the set include Billy Burke (James Gordon), Titus Welliver (Carmine Falcone), David Dastmalchian (Calendar Man), Troy Baker (Joker), Amy Landecker (Barbara Gordon), Julie Nathanson (Gilda Dent) , Jack Quaid (Alberto), Fred Tatasciore (Solomon Grundy) and Alastair Duncan (Alfred).

The Long Halloween is an adaptation of a 13-issue comic book series about the Caped Crusader’s early years as a vigilante superhero. It was published by DC comics in 1996-1997.
The role of Rivera is one of his last completed projects before his untimely death in July.
Naya tragically drowned at the age of 33 while sailing with her young son Josey at Lake Piru in California in July.

Rivera is believed to have jumped into the water to help Josey back onto their small rental pontoon boat, but was unable to get back on board.
Josey, who was four at the time, was found sleeping and alone in the boat as he drifted this afternoon, with no sign of her mother. The child lives with his father and guardian, Rivera’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey.
Rivera played the role of Santana Lopez on the hit music show Fox Glee throughout the show’s six seasons from 2009 to 2015.
The cast of Glee will reunite to honor her former castmate at the 2021 GLAAD Media Awards next month, eight months after her death.

The recognition will highlight the character’s impact on LGBTQ teens and the portrayal of LGBTQ Latinxes on television.
The tribute will feature cast members from Glee including Jacob Artist, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Vanessa Lengies, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale, Heather Morris, Matthew Morrison, Alex Newell, Amber Riley, Harry Shum Jr., Becca Tobin and Jenna Ushkowitz.
