NBA All-Star 2021: Beal swept away votes from fans, players and media

The 2021 NBA star voting was done solely on the basis of the fan vote. For the most part, the fans voted for the best players. However, sometimes they voted for an obscure veteran who didn’t deserve it.

Perhaps that is why the NBA no longer considers solely the fan vote for All-Star starters. Fans only count for 50% of the vote. Players represent 25 percent and selected media have another 25 percent. This actually makes the NBA All-Star starter voting process their version of the “constituency”. Personally, I think the All-Star vote for the starters should only remain for the fans while coaches, players and the media can determine the reserves. Take the pleasure of voting in my opinion.

Earlier today, the Washington Wizards guard was named a starter because of his overall standings. He led the fan vote among the Eastern Conference Guards with 3,485,051 votes. But he also led the vote of the players AND the media!

Most years, since the Wizards are not the most popular team in the NBA, we often hope for “help” from players and / or the media to help rank their players. But this year, there was no doubt that Beal was going to be a starter in this game.

The 2021 NBA All-Star Game takes place in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday, March 7.
