NBA calls Bucks-Grizzlies preseason over fire alarm

A pre-season game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Memphis Grizzlies ended… alarmingly on Tuesday.

Specifically, it ended because the Grizzlies’ FedExForum fire alarm and sprinklers went off for no apparent reason at the end of the third quarter. Fans were quickly evacuated from the arena as the players retreated to the locker rooms:

Over an hour later, the NBA announced that the game had been officially suspended “in the interests of player safety. ”

According to The Athletic, there was no danger in the stadium. Instead, a sprinkler was inadvertently triggered in a “non-public area,” and the resulting delay would have made it dangerous for players to return to the pitch after cooling off for so long.

So the players ended up going home. Bucks star Khris Middleton at least made sure some pre-prepared food didn’t go to waste:
