The Denver Nuggets suffered an excruciating four-extension loss in the third game against the Portland Trail Blazers – and have not lost since.

The second-seeded Nuggets, behind the 2-1 Blazers, took control of the series after winning two consecutive wins, including a victory in the fifth game (124-98) on Tuesday night. Denver now has the option of eliminating the Blazers at Portland's home Thursday night. Will they be able to close the Blazers in 3rd place?

Here's everything you need to know about game 6.

Game 6 scenarios

Nuggets: Denver completely blocked the Blazers in the fifth game. In what was the first explosion of the series, the Nuggets choked backcourt duo composed of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum and led by 18 points in the half and 28 points around. Can the Nuggets continue to prevent the Blazers' snipers from playing on the field while killing Portland on the pick-and-roll with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray?

Blazers: Portland had entered the fifth match, tied with Denver. The cumulative score was 464-462 and both teams tied for free throws and 3 points after four games. However, Lillard and McCollum were held in check, with the two players only getting 34 points on 4 shots out of 14 shot at 3 points (28.5%). While the support cast led by Enes Kanter will play a decisive role, Portland will only go until their star backcourt duo leads them.

Game 6: Prediction

Although the Nuggets have rebounded strongly to win the last two games after a discouraging defeat in Game 3, they are not eliminated, but I do not see the Blazers eliminated at home after only six games in this series. This playoff game between the two division rivals is so well matched that it is natural that it be seven games.

I'm going to go with the Blazers in this one because I'm expecting Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum to shoot well after finishing the fifth match at just 14 of 37 (37.8%). They will be more motivated to push this series to a 7 game on the floor of the Sunday Nuggets house.
