The Washington Wizards lost to the Chicago Bulls 133-130 Thursday night, where they’re now 0-5 this season.
Thomas Bryant was very effective tonight in attack. He scored 22 of his 28 points in the first half, where he shot 8 of 8 from the field. He ultimately shot 10 of 11 in total.
Rui Hachimura also returned to this game on his debut in the 2020-21 season. He scored 17 points, including 15 in the first half while playing 25 minutes.
The first half of this game can be characterized as a defenseless story. The Wizards were nine points ahead in the first quarter at one point, finishing with a 41-35 lead before the start of the second quarter. But in the second quarter, that lead wore off as Washington headed for halftime with a 71-68 deficit.
Even if the Wizards quickly took a lead in the third quarter, the Bulls still managed to come back and they some. And then again in the fourth quarter after they came back from a deficit to have a 123-118 lead with just over four minutes to go after Raul Neto exhausted a three-pointer. He had 15 points and was Washington’s only major contributor. Davis Bertans would have been scoreless if he hadn’t made three free throws (for 3 points).
But then Zach LaVine did some driving layups and a ton of free throws on the stretch. Former Wizards and “Everybody Eats” ring leader Otto Porter also had late shots en route to a 28 point night and shot 10 of 14 from the field. He also grabbed 12 rebounds and provided three assists.
Bradley Beal had another 28-point night and Russell Westbrook had a triple double, but who cares when the Wizards lose again !? I’m just tired of writing the same screenplay every day.
The Wizards face the Minnesota Timberwolves tomorrow night. The tip is 8 p.m. ET. And while we’re at it, I’ll say it as bluntly as I can – the Wizards need to fire Scott Brooks for a chance to save this season!
See you tomorrow. And enjoy the Rockets vs Kings game tonight with an old friend if you can see it.
