AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Nearly 100 companies have left Britain to settle in the Netherlands or have opened offices in the European Union because of the expected departure from the UK, announced Monday a Dutch government agency.

In addition, 325 companies fearing to lose their access to the European market are planning to settle, said the Dutch agency for foreign investment.

"The current growing uncertainty in the UK and the growing possibility of non-agreement is causing major economic turmoil for these companies," said Jeroen Nijland, Commissioner of NFIA. "That's why more and more companies are moving to the Netherlands as a potential new base in the European market."

Companies are in the fields of finance, information technology, media, advertising, life sciences and health, said the NFIA.

The Netherlands competed with Germany, France, Belgium and Ireland to attract Brexit-related stocks.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who took office last month, is committed to pulling Britain out of the European Union at the end of October, with or without a deal. exit.
