About two months after their announcement, Google is launching the last two cameras in its revamped Nest line. Google Nest Cam Floodlight and Nest Cam Indoor projectors are now available starting at $ 99.
The new versions of Nest Cam reflect the first major revamp to the brand’s lineup since the Google takeover. Some of the cameras in this line were over six years old.
One of the most notable changes is the Nest Cam Indoor, an update of the original “Dropcam” design with which Nest started its legacy. This new camera costs $ 99, the brand’s lowest price to date, and comes with a refreshed design that comes in four colors.
Besides the design, Google also includes local storage on the camera which can allow recording to continue for a short time when your internet connection is lost or Google’s servers have a problem. The new Nest Cam Indoor also gets a neat ‘maple’ color with a wood base that costs an additional $ 20. All models include a base in their cost, unlike the more expensive battery model.
As a brand new addition to the Nest family, the Nest Cam with Projector takes the Nest Cam (battery) launched in August and mounts it on an LED projector. This accessory requires the setup to be hardwired, but allows users to mount the light onto an existing projector in their home.
Interestingly, the Nest Cam with Projector uses detection from the camera itself to operate the projector instead of a traditional motion sensor. In terms of size, it is also a fairly large device. Like other updates to Nest Cam, this one includes local storage.
These two new cameras also come with faster processing on the device that allows objects, people and animals to be recognized by the camera instantly. Alerts are then sent to your phone from the Google Home app; these cameras don’t work at all in the old Google Nest app.
After a false start last week, the Nest Cam Floodlight is available today for $ 279 on the Google Store, Best Buy, and other major retailers. Likewise, the new Nest Cam Indoor can be purchased for $ 99 from the Google Store, Best Buy, and others.
