Over the past month, the new "Google Nest" has replaced Nest.com with the Google Store and has a new help center. The unified brand has now killed its wrist Wear OS and Apple Watch applications for home control.
Released yesterday, version 5.37 of the Nest app coincides with the depreciation of portable applications on both platforms. Under Wear OS, opening the app will cause the "Nest is no longer supported for Wear OS" prompt, users being prompted to uninstall.
Apps allowed you to view notifications, control Nest temperature, switch to Home / Outdoor mode, and more.
- Set the target temperature for your Nest Thermostat, change to Eco, or change to another mode.
- Manually tilt your entire Nest home to the house or outside. For example, when you go on vacation, you can quickly set your home to Away, which can automatically turn on your cameras and set the thermostat to its environmental temperature.
- Get all the Nest notifications you receive on your phone, including smoke alerts if you use Google Nest Protect.
The list of Nest apps on the App Store has removed any mention of the customer, while only screenshots remain on the Play Store. Support pages are still available in the Google Nest Help Center. On the Apple platform, Google Keep remains the only watchOS application available.
Google was asked to comment on the removal of Nest Watch apps and their return in one form or another. The company should ideally release a Google Home customer, but the recommended replacement could be voice commands.
