Netflix launches anime in 2021, and Yasuke is one of his most anticipated projects. The internationally produced anime is attracting talent from around the world, and on Thursday the streaming service finally released the series’ first trailer.

The trailer mainly focuses on the background of the titular hero of the series. Yasuke is a legendary black samurai, and while this is true in our world, the show takes place elsewhere. The trailer quickly shows that his version of feudal Japan is full of warriors who wield magic as well as samurai swords. We’ve got plenty of looks at sword fighting and world magic, as well as some great moments where Yasuke leads his own armies to save Japan from an unknown threat.

The only thing we don’t see a lot in the trailer are the mechs, which Netflix’s promotional material continues to tease as a big part of the series. But there are yet to be some surprises for the release date.

Yasuke is created by LeSean Thomas (Black Dynamite, the Boondocks) and hosted by MAPPA, the studio behind shows like Jujutsu kaisen and Attack on Titan Final Season. The series stars LaKeith Stanfield (Get out, Atlanta, sorry to disturb you) in the title role, is directed by Takeshi Koike (Lupine the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine), and has music produced by renowned artist and producer Flying Lotus.

Yasuke is scheduled to debut on Netflix on April 29.
