Netflix still earns a lot of money by sending DVDs by mail into its famous red envelopes

While Netflix has become synonymous with its online streaming platform, the company still sends DVDs by mail to millions of subscribers.

The company is drawing more than $ 200 million a year from its DVD rentals, according to a Daily Mail report.

In the United States, 2.7 million subscribers still receive their Netflix patch in the mail.

One of the possible reasons why so many people have turned to Netflix DVDs is that the streaming service only offers a limited selection.

CNN said Netflix would have less than 6,000 film and television titles on its streaming service, but about 100,000 offers for its DVD customers. A Netflix spokeswoman told CNN that some of the main centers of interest for DVD rental are the coastlines, such as the Bay Area and New York.

A former employee told CNBC that Netflix thought his DVD business could continue to survive until 2025.

Netflix DVD packages range from $ 7.99 for a standard disc to $ 14.99 a month for its leading Blu-ray HD option.
