Netflix teased a frowning mystery behind famed laid-back painter Bob Ross in a new trailer for the documentary, Bob Ross: happy accidents, betrayal and greed.

The new clip is only 20 seconds long and is completely candid that it won’t provide any details on the subject of the documentary. Accompanied by a photo of Ross, a text appears on the screen that reads: “We want to show you the trailer for Bob Ross: happy accidents, betrayal and greed. But we can’t. An unidentified voice then rings: “I’ve wanted to get this story out for all these years.”

Equally vague is a Netflix synopsis, highlighting Ross’s historic career as the cutest artist on television – the big-haired cultural phenomenon who assured viewers there were no mistakes, just happy accidents. But, the synopsis ends, “Beyond the iconic hair, soothing vocals, and nostalgic paintings lies a mystery many have yet to uncover.”

Bob Ross: happy accidents, betrayal and greed was directed by Joshua Rofé and is scheduled for release on August 25.
