Municipalities do little research on Turks living in the Netherlands but having a second home in Turkey. This is reported De Telegraaf based on his own research in the seventeen municipalities with the largest number of Turkish residents.

The Central Appeals Tribunal decided earlier this month that municipalities could carry out research in Turkey as long as other population groups have the magnifying glass. Nevertheless, according to the newspaper, there is little enthusiasm to tackle fraudsters more harshly. Schiedam, the municipality with the largest number of Turkish residents, has started three studies in Turkey from 2015. In Leerdam, where many Turks live, no investigation for fraud has been carried out in recent years.

A foreign trade office employee, specializing in capacity research abroad, estimates that "20 to 30%" of Turks in the Netherlands victims of a fraud in social Security. According to the newspaper, between 8,000 and 12,000 Turks would keep their belongings hidden.
