The Belgian Ministry approves the ban on "killer robots" NOW

A resolution on this subject was adopted by the Belgian Parliamentary Defense Committee, written on VRT . According to MP Hendrik Bogaert (CD & V), Parliament still has to approve the bill, even if "the political decision has been taken".

Belgium has adopted a preventive ban, which means that the country's army can never use fully automatic weapons. Arms manufacturers also can not produce such weapons in Belgium.

Drones

With the ban of killer robots, weapons are not allowed to independently decide to lead an attack. Drones have been around for some time and can fly autonomously, but they shoot only when they receive a human order.

A year ago experts warned in an open letter about the dangers of killer robots. Among others, Tesla CEO Elon Musk signed the letter, which stated that autonomous robots were a danger to civilians in war zones.
