Played: Battlefield V – PSX-Sense

Played: Battlefield V – For years, the Swedish DICE worked on the Battlefield series and in 2016 they used the First World War as a frame for the first time. It was more than successful, but there were critics around the corner where the biggest enthusiasts are. The more tactical gameplay with infantry and vehicles has been traded for more chaotic confrontations. It did not please everyone. Battlefield V is in terms of tuning to one that has already been used in many shooters, namely World War II. However, this is not the most striking thing we have noticed when we recently played with the game in the closed alpha. Battlefield V seems to become a part that has more in the core with the earlier parts than Battlefield 1. Why this is what we like to explain in this practice preview.

New Features Provide More Tactical Gameplay

Unfortunately, we have not been able to play the game on PlayStation 4, but the closed alpha has already given a clear idea of what to what can we expect later. What was available were two modes: the familiar conquest and the new variant of operations, which was introduced into the previous battlefield. The first mode does not differ much from what you know, but the rule of the majority is now back to order. In Battlefield 1, tickets have been counted, tickets are now running, and the more you manage flags as a team, the longer the delay. So, that goes the way we know previous parts. Large operations is the new variant of operations, spread over several days, with different assignments to execute. For example, one day you have to blow up an anti-aircraft gun with bombs, while at another time you have to check the flags.

In addition to the variation that must result from these assignments, you must also consider different circumstances. So, it may be that you start during the day, but the second day you have to parachute from a Dakota at night to reach a goal. You can decide for yourself when you jump out of the plane. There is a risk here, because if you wait too long, you can also get too close to the target, which is dangerous, or you can be thrown by the antiaircraft gun, which is an excellent element. It also looks very cool when you fly over the battlefield, where you see all the action and explosions from above. This kind of thing certainly contributes to the atmosphere of an epic battle, and this benefits the experience.

New in Battlefield V, you can build reinforcements in fixed locations on the map, such as sandbags or even stationary machine guns. make. In this way, you can create more coverage around tactically important locations to progress with your team and bring you closer to victory. The building itself is entirely made with the so-called toolbox that every soldier wears and the support class built into it just a little easier. The building itself is fine and it was particularly effective in large operations. This allows you to briefly set up a defense, so that you can regroup. After that, you can then try to move to the next line. In Conquest, we have often forgotten this new feature because you are no longer looking for flag flags. One can therefore wonder if it will have the same influence in all the modes, if it is that it contributes to the more tactical gameplay and the dynamics of the pots, because the game now offers you the opportunity to create coverages in precarious situations. In the Royale mode announced on the E3, this one will undoubtedly have an even more important role.

Where You're Going, You're Really Touching

One of the recurring points that Battlefield fans often talk about stumbling into in the previous installment, was the chance where your balls have sometimes finished. Some weapons were so unpredictable at certain distances that if you moved a little, you could not always trust them in battles. DICE strives to give more control to Battlefield V players. The principle must be the one where you aim, that the bullets should also end there. This is especially applicable for the first load of bullets from the warehouse and then the game will have more impact. At the first encounter with the game, it was in a noticeably positive way and we also felt that we were more consistently accurate with the weapons available. It was even possible to shoot longer-range enemies with Assault class weapons, as long as we did not pull the trigger all the way. In this regard, the accuracy of the weapons can be called a relief, because the change is very sensitive.

Sniping requires more skill

Compared to Battlefield 1, accurate weapons already offer a big difference, but there are more aspects are adjusted thoroughly. For the snipers, DICE had invented something new in the previous part and it was the so-called "sweetspot" mechanism. At certain distances, it was enough to hit an opponent on his body and then he was already dead. If you stayed at a distance, you knew everything was fine. In Battlefield V, the sniping will ask you more, because only shots to the head give shots when an opponent is in top form. In addition, 3D scorings with which you can score a player for yourself or for other members of the team are rarely present. The result is that you need to be more attentive and communicate with your teammates.

Less ammunition and reviven takes too much time

A disadvantage of this is that pilots can see a lot less well where the enemies are sitting and so you can do less damage to the # 39; air. Players who have been killed all the time by experienced pilots in Battlefield 1 will think differently, but this is something that is very noticeable when playing Battlefield V. The lack of tracking enemies also continues to the other side again to the more tactical elements that Battlefield V contains and it's something we really like to see. In addition, you should also consider ammunition because as an infantry, you carry a lot less with you. Fortunately, there is the support class that can provide you with bullets and you can also get that from the dead enemies who abandon it. Vehicles and planes also have a limited number of bullets and can fill them in some places.

For the infantry, there are also fixed locations on the map where you can pack ammo as well as health. The latter has changed a little because you do not automatically recover your health. Here, doctors play an important role again or you have to look for such a place. If you are fired after all, you will have to be helped, but it did not work at all. If you are fatally hit, you lie on the ground and see what the player who shot you did. Then you can ask your companions to lie on the floor or not to bleed to death. For now, however, it costs too much time and it takes a little extra out of the game.

Whatever you choose, you just want to dive fast into the action but in the game session we were sometimes wait almost half a minute in a screen and that is too long. The raise has also changed somewhat compared to Battlefield 1 because as a Medic you can help someone get up pretty quickly, but a recovery by a different class now takes a little longer. Yes, indeed, other classes now also have the opportunity to revive you, provided they are on your team. However, this did not always go smoothly, as we had to really look for the right place to activate the raise where it should work immediately if you approach another player. Critical points that DICE will probably adjust before the release.

Something too much snow

What DICE should also look at is the somewhat exaggerated weather effects, such as around the swirling snow that is a bit too much. the sight is lame. It also happened that the snow was visible in the houses, where the houses were still completely intact. DICE also sometimes has the hand to make some rooms in houses so dark that you are surprised by the opponents. In addition, it was a bit difficult to find enemies in buildings by following certain instructions via audio, such as traces. This was immediately noticeable because it worked so well in Battlefield 1. Finally, there were some bugs and glitches to be seen in the more extensive destruction of buildings, reinforcement building and the new way of jumping through the windows, but In general, Battlefield V was well in this early state and it was particularly enjoyable to play.

Provisional Finding

The best control you have now in shooting and where the balls land, a We made sure we had a good time with the first games of Battlefield V. Although this was a first version, we certainly see the potential of the game and what DICE has in mind to do with this shooter. It must become a more tactical experience, where skills and cooperation will be more important and without ignoring the epic moments. Renewal versus revival needs a bit of work, just like the audio in the buildings, which is not yet at the level of Battlefield 1. Other than that, that's it. Looks good, the atmosphere is good and the weapons are good. In short, let these next game sessions with Battlefield V come quickly because we are very curious about the rest of the game.
