VOORBOURG –
Royal visit for Hubertus Brandaan scout group from Voorburg. Queen Máxima attended Tuesday afternoon at a meeting of the 2018 Roverway Organization. Roverway is an international event for Europe's 16 to 22 year old scouts, held every three years.

Queen Máxima, Patroness of Scouting of the Netherlands, was welcomed by about 20 international volunteers who work for the organization of the Roverway 2018. Scouts start the Roverway by spending a night on the beach of Scheveningen . Then they go on their way for six days in groups of about fifty scouts, an itinerary that scouts will follow through the Netherlands at the end of July. At the meeting, Máxima gave the symbolic starting signal for this.

During the Path Phase, participants are challenged to discover, be active, and have fun. Then they go to the Scoutinglandgoed Zeewolde, where the common camp takes place.

International Encounters

Roverway 2018 brings about four thousand scouts from more than fifty countries. Worldwide, more than 40 million children and youth are part of Scouting in more than 150 countries and territories. In order to make international meetings possible, Scout organizations organize international camps and Jamborees. Scouting Nederland is organizing the European Roverway event this summer.
