More than 130,000 people signed a petition to block the Netflix Insatiable Series . Manufacturers are accused of "shaming", being intimidated when you are fat.
The petition was launched by Britain's Florence Given. According to her, the show would create eating disorders. "For so long, the story has been told that women and girls must be skinny to be popular, to have friends, to love men, and to some extent to be a worthy person," says Given. She wants to collect 150,000 signatures
Reaction of the manufacturer
The creator of the series, Lauren Gussis, posted a comment on Twitter. She says that in doing the series she wanted to realize the opposite and that she herself also had a eating disorder. She describes the series as a warning about how damaging it can be to believe that appearance is more important than the inner self. She also asks to give a chance to the show.
