FC Twente lost another exhibition game two days after defeating FC Twente 5-1. VVV was 2-1 too strong for last season's Eredivsie-hekkensluiter in his own Venlo and thus grabbed the annual Memorial Herman Teeuwen.

VVV still plays against Werder Bremen and FC Volendam, before opening Saturday, August 11 the competition against Willem II. FC Twente has another week and plays Friday 17 August against Sparta. Before that, the Tukkers are still facing Göztepe SK (Turkey) and A-Taawoun FC (Saudi Arabia).
