The special phenomenon was not to be seen everywhere in the province, but always provided beautiful images.
So, not only the shadow of Mother Earth, but also a stork that had landed on a lamppost, took the view of photographer Niels de Vries on the moon last night in Joure. As the Earth's satellite ascended into the sky and the sun continued to rise, the moon of blood became more and more visible on the horizon.

This lunar eclipse was the longest total eclipse of this century with 104 minutes. A special incident was that Mars was clearly visible. A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth exactly enters between the sun and the moon. The moon is then in the shadow of the earth.
