The Chinese shipping company Cosco has indicated that it has now been repaired following an incident that lasted six days and that it was described as a power outage . In an update on his site, the company writes that the network has been restored and that all communications such as phone, email and electronic data exchange are working again. The problems have occurred with the North and South American branch of the company. Cosco issued a first warning on the problems on July 25, in which he stated that the company was not affected. It is not known which variant and how the infection occurred. In a note on the incident, Cosco writes that the problems have occurred in the United States, Canada, Panama, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Chile and Uruguay.
If it was a ransomed attack, Cosco would not be the first shipping company major problems faced by malware. For example, Maersk was hit last year by the NotPetya attack.
