Dozens of accounts and pages were found that showed "fake behavior," writes Facebook in a blog post. These are accounts that cause disunity among voters with reports on social issues such as US immigration policy.
Facebook does not say which organization or which country is behind the campaign of influence. According to The New York Times the company informed the US authorities and said that Russia could be involved.
Facebook's message indicates that the survey is still at an early stage. The accounts concerned were found two weeks ago. This involves 32 pages and accounts of Facebook and Instagram, which have since been removed from the platform.
