Microsoft quarterly numbers higher than expected thanks to growth in cloud services Now

Microsoft had a better quarter than expected. This is mainly due to the fact that more companies have resorted to cloud services and Office 365 programs.

Microsoft's total sales in the last three months reached $ 29.1 billion dollars (25.5 billion euros), the company announced Wednesday in its quarterly figures. The turnover has increased by 19% compared to the same quarter of last year.

Earnings rose 34% to $ 8.8 billion (7.7 billion euros). A year ago, net income was still just under $ 6.6 billion.

For Microsoft, the first three months of the new fiscal year were the last three months. Director Satya Nadella called the change a "good start".

The Azure cloud service grew by 75% in the first quarter of 2019. In total, the business in the cloud amounted to $ 8.6 billion.

Office software revenues increased by 17% and consumer versions by 16%. 32.5 million people use the programs. Gaming revenue has increased by 44% according to Microsoft.
