Archeologists discovered five new skeletons in Pompeii, presumably composed of two women and three children. That's what Massimo Osanna, director of the historic site, told the Italian Ansa agency. The site south of Naples was destroyed in AD 79 AD when the volcano Vesuvius erupted.
In addition to bending, part of a bed or sofa was also found. According to Osanna, the two women tried to push the furniture in front of the door to stop the axles. An unsuccessful attempt to avoid death.
"The axle fell on Pompeii for 18 hours," said the director. "Blocks of lava fell on the roofs and blocked the roads, which prevented people from fleeing the city."
The findings provide more scientific information on the disaster, Director Osanna said. The discovery took place in the same house where inscriptions were found last week, indicating that Pompeii had been hit by a volcanic eruption two months later than expected.
