The Samsung Galaxy S10 may have a camera on the screen. As a result, virtually no edge or notch would be required in the display.
The Galaxy S10 would have almost a full screen on the front, writes the Bloomberg news agency Friday, based on insiders. As on the S9, the screen is curved at the edges, according to anonymous sources.
The device is expected to have a fingerprint scanner on the screen, such as the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Three cameras would be placed at the back. Regarding the size, the device remains about the same as the S9, which has a 5.8-inch screen. Samsung is also working on a Plus variant.
The South Korean smartphone maker wants to launch three different versions of the S10. In addition to a standard model and a larger model, the company is studying the possibility of choosing a cheaper version. On this unit, the screen will not bend. This version probably does not have a camera on the screen either.
Samsung would play with the idea of removing the headphone jack. This means that the ear plugs must be connected to the USB-C input or that users must listen to using a wireless headset. Samsung has ridiculed Apple in recent years due to the lack of headphone jack in the new iPhone.
"Two other foldable phone prototypes in the race"
Bloomberg also says he has information about the foldable phone that Samsung is working on. The company will test two other prototypes. With one version, the device is vertically longer in the unfolded state and horizontally on the other.
The device would not have a fingerprint reader on the screen. This would be technically unfeasible in flexible displays. On the outside, the phone would receive a 4-inch screen for basic functions, such as reading e-mails and messages.
Samsung is expected to present the folding phone next month in San Francisco at the Samsung Developers Conference.
