Dutch hockey players lost an international match against Spain in preparation for the World Cup next month. The South-Europeans won the first game of the two-country tournament with a 2-1 win.
Voogd's Bob signed after 31 minutes for the 1-1 after Spain took over. advantage in the 24th minute via Xavi Lleonart. Pau Quemada scored the winning goal in Valencia in the final minutes.
The Netherlands will play against England on Tuesday, followed by another match against Ireland. The Dutch team is in preparation for the World Championship which will start in India on November 28th.
National coach Max Caldas with Bob the Guardian, Mirco Pruyser, Lars Balk, Thierry Brinkman, Thijs van Dam, Jonas de Geus and Sam van der Ven and Floris Wortelboer have included eight World Cup beginners in his selection.
The Dutch team plays its first game on Dec. 1 against Malaysia's national coach Roelant Oltmans. Next are group duels with Germany, two-time world champion (December 5) and Pakistan, two-time world champion (December 9).
