"Google is working on subscriptions to apps and paid games"

Google's program code indicates that the company is working on a subscription service for apps and games with the Play Pass code name. During one survey, Google also asked Android users if they wanted to access hundreds of dollars worth of games and apps in exchange for a monthly fee. This reports the developers of the XDA site.

The advantage of such a subscription is that users no longer have to pay separately to download a series of applications and games. We still do not know if Google has decided to launch Play Pass.

In-App Purchases

Apple earns more revenue from its App Store than Google from its Play Store. Much of the revenue from gaming and mobile apps is currently coming from microtransactions in apps, called in-app purchases, instead of pre-payment for apps.

Adobe has been very successful with its Creative Cloud subscription service on programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere. Microsoft also earns a lot of revenue from its subscription to Office 365.
