The seismic zone of reinforcement houses begins after the beginning of the year

A new homebuilding plan in the seismic zone of Groningen is completed. After the beginning of the year, the NCG will begin with the first home inspections, confirms a spokesman for the National Groningen Coordinator (NCG). This concerns 11,500 properties.

According to RTV Noord, the plan distinguishes three types of premises: with an increased risk, a slightly increased risk and without risk. Properties with the highest risk would be the first to be strengthened. The GCN spokesman can not confirm this statement: "We agreed with the national government, provinces and municipalities to inform the inhabitants first." According to the spokesman, this will happen in the coming weeks.

National Coordinator Groningen Herman Sietsma received early July Minister Eric Wiebes (Economic Affairs and Climate Change, VVD) commissioned a new plan for building homes in the seismic zone. Sietsma's spokesman said "relieved": "We can work for the people of the earthquake-affected region." This will happen from next year. Residents should not expect cranes directly on their streets, the first inspections will take place.

Delay

Minister Wiebes decided earlier this year to suspend the inspection or reinforcement of approximately 3,200 homes. Former national coordinator Groningen Hans Alders resigned, he was in charge of this plan. After the minister's decision, Alders was unable to respect his agreements with the residents, he wrote in a letter.

He is still uncomfortable in the NCG. On Wednesday, Jeroen de Boer, a member of the board of directors, took the floor because "the course did not match his vision". He was known as Alders' confidant. The NCG will grow in the coming period. More manpower is needed to carry out the reinforcement operation. Twenty vacancies are open, the spokesman confirms. It is mainly project managers and resident advisers who are in demand.
