During the robbery of last summer, many jewels were stolen. Witteman, 67 years old. "Each time, she was getting jewelry from her previous partner when adopting a child or on special occasions," says Van Dun. "All this has a memory for her and it's very emotional."
Lawyer Anis Boumanjal also said that the burglary had "a major emotional impact" on Witteman. "Here, during the session, it will become a bomb again."
Two of the three suspects were tried Tuesday during a pro-forma session. Although they deny having been involved in the burglary, they remain stuck longer. The third suspect has yet to be handed over by Belgium.
Witteman especially wants to recover his jewels. "If they decide to bring back the jewels, in our opinion, the biggest booty is already in," says Boumanjal. "If it's inside, we feel less called to lift the bottom stone and get the full book."
