Turkey shared sound recordings of the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi with Saudi Arabia, the United States, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. This is what Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday
The recordings would show that Khashoggi was killed and cut into pieces. "We gave the recordings," said Erdogan. "They listened to the talks, they know it."
Khashoggi disappeared on October 2nd during a visit to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Saudi Arabia first stated that it had left the building again, but later returned.
Several lectures followed, but the final explanation is that Khashoggi was killed prematurely.
Turkey requests extradition
According to the Turkish Attorney General, Khashoggi was allegedly strangled at the consulate just after his arrival. His body would be hidden in pieces. The Turks have requested the extradition of these people, but this request has already been rejected.
Erdogan calls on Saudi Arabia to designate the murderer of the group of fifteen men on the day of Khashoggi's death in Istanbul. "We are certain that the murderer or the murderers belong to this group," said Erdogan. "Saudi Arabia can make these people talk."
French President Emmanuel Macron and his US counterpart Donald Trump agreed Saturday after a meeting that the Saudi authorities should be open to trade in the Khashoggi case. Erdogan joins the two presidents this week to commemorate the end of the First World War in France.
