Because of the smoke in the cabin, a plane carrying 282 people on board made an emergency landing in Siberia, east of Russia. The Boeing 777 managed to land at Irkutsk airport safely. Nobody was injured, Russian media reported on Sunday.
An Air France plane was en route from Paris to Shanghai in China. The pilot reportedly noticed smoke on the border between Russia and Mongolia. According to the French media, Air France spoke of a "penetrating smell and a slight smoke". The origin of the smoke is not yet known.
